Privacy Policy

1.What we collect

What you give us: your email and password when you sign up; your handle and display name, and optional profile details (bio, avatar, links, gender); a confirmation that you meet our age requirements - we ask you to confirm you are old enough, and 18 or older for mature content, and we do not collect your date of birth; and everything you create - stories, chapters, comments, reviews, and your library.

Automatically: basic device and browser information, your IP address, and how you use the platform (pages viewed, what you read, and your library and reading activity), through cookies and similar technologies.

From analytics tools: we use Google Analytics and the Meta pixel to understand how people find and use ToiletNovel. These set their own cookies and share usage data with Google and Meta.

2.Cookies

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your age confirmation and reading theme; these are always on. Analytics and advertising cookies (Google Analytics, the Meta pixel) help us measure and promote the platform. Where the law requires, we ask your consent before using them, and you can decline or withdraw it.

3.How we use your information

To run and secure the platform; sign you in; display and recommend content; keep ToiletNovel safe (moderation, abuse, and fraud prevention); contact you with account and service messages, and - only if you opt in - updates and marketing; understand and improve the product; and meet our legal obligations.

4.How we share it

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with service providers who run our infrastructure - Supabase (database, accounts, and file storage, in Singapore), Vercel (hosting), Cloudflare (domain and security), and Brevo (our email provider, for account and marketing email); with analytics and advertising partners (Google and Meta); with authorities when required by law or to protect people; with a successor if the platform changes hands; and publicly, for the parts of your account meant to be public (see below).

5.What's public

Your published works, your public profile (handle, display name, avatar, bio, and links), and your comments and reviews are visible to others and may be seen by anyone on the internet and indexed by search engines. Your library can be public or private - your choice. Your email and password are never public.

6.Email

Account and service emails (sign-in, security, and important notices) are part of using ToiletNovel. Marketing and update emails are opt-in, and every one has an unsubscribe link.

7.Your choices and rights

You can view and edit your profile any time; export your entire catalog and delete your account whenever you want (see Author Rights); unsubscribe from marketing; and control cookies in your browser or through our consent tool. Depending on where you live - the EU or UK, California, the Philippines, and elsewhere - you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or move your personal data and to object to certain uses. Email us to exercise them.

8.How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your published content; limited records - backups, logs, anything already delivered to readers who paid for it, and data we must keep by law - may remain for a limited time. See our Terms of Use.

9.Children

ToiletNovel is not for children under 13, or the higher minimum age where you live, and mature content is limited to adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under our minimum age.

10.Where your data is processed

We operate from the Philippines and use providers in Singapore (Supabase) and globally (Vercel, Cloudflare, Brevo, Google, and Meta), so your information may be processed in those places with safeguards appropriate to the law.

11.Security

We protect your information with reasonable measures - passwords are stored hashed, so we never see them in plain text, and access is limited. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. For meaningful changes we will give notice, and the effective date above shows the current version.
